Why do I need a philanthropic advisor to help give away my money?


Giving away money should be easy.  There are thousands of non-profits doing good work. One of the 5 myths about charitable giving (Ken Stern, Washington Post) is that "it is easy to find a good charity to support."  Concierge Philanthropy knows it can be enormously difficult and time consuming to undertake good due diligence on a charity or its programs.  Not only is there considerable confusion among charities, there is little information on a group's effectiveness, despite rankings provided by BBB, Charity Navigator and Guidestar.  The mutual fund industry employs 259,000 people to help investors make good investment choices. But there are fewer than 100 people nationwide who have the professional expertise to help the giving public make wise donations.  So what is a conscientious donor to do?

Concierge Philanthropy is completely donor-focused.  Our only goal is to ensure that your philanthropy accomplishes your goals. We will never steer you towards a specific issue you have not identified.  We do not advise other non-profits or work with organizations seeking grants.  Concierge Philanthropy is neutral and conflict-free, which ensures your customized philanthropic road map truly reflects the integration of your values and interests.

What is your relationship to financial and legal advisors?

We work collaboratively with your advisors; joining your team to provide customized philanthropic planning services.  Concierge Philanthropy does not manage assets, nor do we provide legal or financial advice. Our partnership with your advisors provides an integrated focus to your charitable giving.

What are your fees?


Services are tailored to your specific style and needs.  Fees are calculated on an hourly estimate, based on the time and resources needed to provide your desired level of service and outcomes.  We are available to discuss a flat rate for the guided discovery service, which is the foundation of the personal philanthropic road map.
